The Nigerian government is committed to supporting investors in the automotive sector, with a special focus on electric vehicles (EVs). This commitment was highlighted during a recent visit by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Joseph Osanipin, Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), to the SAGLEV Electric Vehicle Assembly and Manufacturing facility in Lagos.
Government Initiatives to Support the Auto Sector
Minister Oduwole stated the government’s dedication to providing workable reforms for manufacturers and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help them remain competitive.
SAGLEV’s CEO, Dr. Gbenga Faleye, shared that the company has been developing its EV project for the past five years. SAGLEV holds a franchise with the Chinese auto manufacturer, Dongfeng Motors, to produce electric vehicles in Nigeria.
